Science

Elementary school science is about extending how children learn about and understand the world. At University Cooperative School, effective scientific investigation entails fun and engaging science experiments and projects. In the younger grades, students connect to the natural world and explore scientific investigations through the fundamental question: What would happen if? Students add written documentation and data analysis as they progress through the grades.

We learn to ask questions, gather evidence, convince others of the answers we've discovered, and decide whether to believe the claims others make. We observe, study, and protect wildlife and the natural world around us. We collect and analyze data and learn to control experiments properly.

Through study units, projects, and experiments, students explore life science, earth science, physical science, and space science. Asking and answering questions in increasingly rigorous experiments is the core of elementary school science at University Cooperative School.
